Famli tips

Using Famli on your phone.

Famli is designed to be there when you need it — wherever you are. Once you’ve added Famli to your phone’s Home Screen, as explained in Save Famli to your Home Screen, you have quick access to your family assistant whenever you need it.

You can use Famli by typing or, where appropriate, by talking to Famli’s assistant. That means you don’t always need to stop what you’re doing to type something out.

How to Use Famli on Your Phone

Using Famli on your phone is simple. Open Famli from the icon on your Home Screen and you can:

  • Check what’s happening today and over the next few days
  • Add a calendar event
  • Create a task — for yourself or someone else in the family
  • Ask Famli’s assistant to find something you’ve stored
  • Add information for the family
  • Keep family information up to date

Your Dashboard at a Glance

The Dashboard is the first thing you see when you open Famli. Its Calendar panel shows today and the next few days — events, bills due, renewals and other important dates — and its Tasks panel lists the tasks you still have to do.

Talking or Typing to Famli’s Assistant

Look for the assistant button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Tap the phone icon to talk to Famli, or the message icon to type instead.

The assistant looks after the information stored in your family’s spaces — such as insurance, household, finance, vehicles, pets and travel. It can:

  • Find something you’ve stored and tell you about it
  • Add a new item, asking you for the details it needs
  • Update the details on an item
  • Delete an item, once you’ve confirmed

For example:

“When is the car insurance due?”

Or:

“Add our home insurance — it renews on 15 November.”

Speaking naturally can make adding information quick and convenient, particularly when typing isn’t practical.

Adding Events and Tasks

The assistant doesn’t add calendar events or tasks — you add those yourself, and it only takes a moment:

  • An event: go to Calendars and select Event / Reminder. Give it a title and a start and end time; a location and description are optional.
  • A task: go to Tasks and select New task. Give it a name and a due date and, if it’s for someone else, choose who it’s Assigned to.

Tip: events don’t repeat automatically. For a regular activity — such as Emma’s soccer training every Wednesday at 5:00 pm — add each session as its own event.

However you add something, always check that Famli has recorded it correctly — particularly dates, times and names. If the assistant has added an item for you, open it afterwards and fill in anything it didn’t ask about.

When to Use Famli

Famli can be useful throughout the day — whenever something comes to mind that you need to remember, organise or share with your family.

At Home

Use Famli to:

  • Check the family’s calendar
  • Add appointments and events
  • Create tasks
  • Update family information
  • Give a task to another family member, so they know it’s theirs

At the School Gate

Just remembered something important?

Add it to Famli while you’re there — rather than relying on your memory later. For example, create a task called “Return the school form”, due on Friday.

At the Supermarket

Need to remember something when you get home?

Add a task now — “Call the plumber”, due this evening — and it will be waiting in your Tasks.

You can capture the thought before it disappears.

At the Airport or While Travelling

Travelling often means keeping track of dates, bookings and family plans.

Famli can help you check what’s happening and keep important information together. If your family uses the Travel and Personal Documents spaces, the assistant can find what you need while you’re on the move — “When does my passport expire?”

When Something Suddenly Comes to Mind

This is one of the simplest ways to use Famli.

You know that moment when you’re doing something completely unrelated and suddenly think: “I must remember to do that.”

Don’t rely on remembering it later. Open Famli and add it — a task is often the quickest way.

Using Famli While Driving — Please Be Responsible

Voice interaction can make using Famli more convenient when you are on the move, but convenience should never come before safety.

If you are driving, always obey all local laws, regulations and road rules relating to the use of phones and other devices while driving.

Do not use Famli in a way that requires you to handle, look at or interact with your phone if doing so is prohibited or unsafe.

Your attention should remain on driving and the road.

Where voice interaction is legally permitted and can be used safely, speaking to Famli may be easier than typing. However, you should only use it when doing so does not distract you from driving or create a risk to yourself, your passengers or other road users.

If in doubt, wait until you have safely stopped and parked before using Famli.

No reminder, calendar entry or family update is more important than getting everyone home safely.

A Simple Rule

Think of Famli as your personal assistant for family life.

If you need to remember it, organise it, check it or share it — Famli may be able to help.

And you don’t always need to type.

Type when it’s convenient.
Talk when it’s appropriate.
Always use Famli responsibly.

Famli is there to make family life a little easier — not to distract you from living it.
